Riviera Beach PD Unsolved Homicide

Advanced DNA Testing Funded by Season of Justice Helps Riviera Beach Police to formally press charges in a 1995 Homicide.

Zionsville, IN (February 10, 2025): In the early hours of an April morning in 1995, 75-year-old Earnestine Mortimore was found murdered in her home in Riviera Beach, Florida. Despite a thorough investigation and physical evidence collected at the scene, the case remained unsolved for nearly three decades. Detectives continued to revisit the case over the years, but the technology available at the time wasn’t enough to identify a suspect, until now.

In 2024, Season of Justice awarded funding to the Riviera Beach Police Department for advanced DNA testing on evidence collected during the original investigation, which ultimately led to the identification, and confession, of the suspect. The suspect is currently incarcerated for an unrelated crime, but RVPD was able to formally press charges against him. His scheduled release date for the current sentence is May 2032

Season of Justice is honored to support the efforts of the Riviera Beach Police Department and to have played a small role in moving this long-stalled case forward. We hope this breakthrough offers some measure of justice and peace to the loved ones of Ms. Mortimore after so many years of uncertainty. We remain grateful to the investigators who never stopped pursuing the truth, and to our donors, whose generosity makes this work possible.
