Season of Justice is a nonprofit dedicated to providing funding for investigative agencies and families to help solve cold cases and bring resolution to those impacted by unsolved violent crimes.
Our Mission
Season of Justice (SOJ) is a nonprofit dedicated to providing funding for investigative agencies and families to help solve cold cases. SOJ provides grants for advanced DNA analysis solutions, such as forensic genealogy and next-generation sequencing, for investigative agencies in an effort to solve these complex cases. The organization also awards grants for families to support awareness campaigns and other initiatives that can assist in pushing their cold cases forward. SOJ’s goal is to provide financial resources for both investigative agencies and families in order to bring resolution to those impacted by unsolved violent crimes.
Background & History
Season of Justice (SOJ) was founded in June 2020 by Ashley Flowers, Founder and Chief Creative Officer of audiochuck, the award-winning independent media company. After delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the support of audiochuck listeners made it possible to launch Season of Justice officially. SOJ received its 501(c)(3) status in 2021. Season of Justice is the culmination of Ashley’s understanding and experience of law enforcement systems and her passion for responsible storytelling. Ashley believes in the ethical obligation that true crime content creators have to support cold case victims and their loved ones.
Today, Season of Justice directly addresses the stark funding gaps experienced by law enforcement agencies in accessing advanced forensic testing methods while also providing grants to families of cold case victims for public awareness campaigns – with the ultimate goal of playing a small part in solving cold cases. Season of Justice is overseen by a dedicated Board of Directors, who bring varied professional and personal expertise, such as true crime content creation and scientific and justice system experience, to inform the organization’s best practices.
Season of Justice’s small but dedicated team of two works daily to continue providing grants to families and investigative agencies that drive cold cases toward resolution. To date, Season of Justice has awarded 228 grants, which have already resulted in 15 solves.
