Jacky Nguyen and Nhut Phan

Date of Death: December 27, 2010
Type of Crime: Double Homicide
Summary of Case:

Jacky Nguyen and Nhut Phan were companions in both their personal and professional lives, a married couple and owners of the Top Perfect Nail salon on Bessemer Road in Birmingham, Alabama. Jacky and Nhut were well-loved in the community. Regular customers of the salon said the couple felt like family.

Around 9:00 a.m. on December 27, 2010, a customer and an employee of Top Perfect Nail arrived at the salon to a terrible scene. Jacky was slumped against a wall in the rear area of the salon, and Nhut was in a chair in the back office. Both Jacky and Nhut had been shot in the head.

Jacky and Nhut were last seen the previous day around 4:00 p.m., when other salon employees finished up for the day. Top Perfect Nail was set to close at 6:00 p.m. that day; however, Jacky and Nhut were known for keeping the salon open late for anyone who needed them. Police believe someone may have taken advantage of that kindness and robbery could have been a motive.

Jacky and Nhut are dearly missed by their family members, who are desperate for answers in their senseless murders.
